PLOW is a dance performance that explores the intimacy of home. It has become an offering of acceptance and reclaiming of my upbringing in Central Appalachia.
Central Appalachia contains an essence, a unique awareness of self, as land and memory are deeply connected to identity. The choreography of PLOW embraces the concept of place as a pause in movement; it restructures common mis-representations of ‘home’, the value of proximity, the land, the customs, and the assumptions, examining our understanding of culture and place.
